Mithras would like to announce the return of long time frontman/bassist Rayner Coss, who left back in 2008. Rayner “Firstly, it's good to be back! When I departed in 2008, Leon and I had been playing in bands together non-stop for over 12 years, and for various reasons I was finding it really difficult dedicating the necessary amount of time and attention to Mithras. But, during the near three years I've been away, my situation has changed to the point where I'm able to fully concentrate on the band again. We've gone straight to work on the new record, which Leon already had a lot of ideas down for and so far it's been the easiest writing process we've ever had, which is really promising” Leon “It's great to be working with a re-energised Rayner on new material again, and the tracks we're developing for the next album are sounding incredible. Even though I needed a rest and had put Mithras practically on hiatus for the last six months, I already had a fair amount of material demoed up which I'd been working on solo. It's only taken a month to get Rayner up to speed with where I'm at with everything and it's also extra great because I don't need to record the vocals myself now, haha! So for the next record, we'll be sticking to the formula which worked great on all our others, Rayner Coss - Oratory/Bass and Leon Macey – Guitars/Drums” The yet to be titled follow-up to the critically acclaimed 'Behind The Shadows Lie Madness' (released via Candelight Records in 2007) is due sometime in 2012... |

I made the announcement back in September that I was going to do the next record on my own - and Rayner wasn't in a situation at that point in time where he could consider rejoining but he now he is, which is cool and really good news. Re: Sam, it's true he's moving back to Australia very soon. I knew when he joined up he would at some point be going back down under, and he told me last year he was planning to go sooner rather than later, so it was inevitable. The great thing is we did some awesome shows in the time he was on vocals. |

Actually, whilst I'm elated about Rayner being back there is a part of me that can't help being disappointed that Leon isn't doing more vocals. I thought the Time Never Lasts demo was excellent. What about sticking the demo tracks on a limited version of album 4 as bonus tracks or doing a bonus demo disc with Leon on vocals? Oh well, just a thought. It will be interesting comparing the vocals on the 2 different versions of Time Never Lasts. |

awesome. always thought rayn was the best frontman for mithras. now if only we could get that "lords and masters" rehearsal with rayn and ben back on youtube... |

Well, evidently the DVD was never released, there was a thread about the reasons why not a while back still got all the archive footage though which will be used eventually |

Fucking Ace, mate. We can all tremble and fear that the destroyer has returned.  Bit saddened that Sam had to call it a day though (mainly because i never got to see his live shows in Mithras)
