What is the name given to the type of drum beat that "reverses" on itself and then reverts back to "normal" tempo. Trym and Hellhammer use it a lot. Ive always wanted to know. awaiting a reply..

you'd have to be more specific, say name a part from a particular emperor song

I think I know what you mean, and I can't possible believe that it's got a name since it's more a matter of 'playing around' and switching between tempos and time signatures than doing a particular beat.

Then again, I don't know much about the technical side of drumming. Hellhammer does it a lot in Arcturus and The Kovenant, right?

two songs that have this change in time signature(which is definitely a more appropriate way of explaining this) would be Arcturus' "Raudt Og Svart" and Emperor's "The Acclamation of Bonds". Misereion's right; it probably doesn't have a name per se, i just find it interesting and wanted some insight into how this is achieved.
