What did everyone think of it for those who have seen it?

For my own part i'm caught between being a geek and being nitpicky about it, or just saying it was an enjoyable film that was faithful enough to the book. But perhaps i might have been more amazed with the story if i hadn't read the book in the first place. Bah.

I can picture Alan Moore on the premiere night, sitting home in the dark, rocking back and forth on his armchair with a smoking pipe, looking very angry and unimpressed with the world. But hey.

I haven't seen the film, but my mum dropped the book round (containing the whole comic) the other day. Do you think I should watch the film first or read the book?

I'd read it first, then go and see it. That way you will know where the film was coming from. I saw it yesterday and I liked it more than I thought I would.

I was never a massive fan of the book, I always thought the way the story was told was better than the story but the film got alot of things right, Rorschach and the Comedian in particular. It was just exciting to see the whole thing on the screen and have the book literally come to life. I'm looking forward to seeing the super uncut DVD when they release it.

Hehe, even though it wasn't exactly a smash hit, I think it did ok for a film about a niche graphic novel, that is 3 hours and earned an 18 rating. Thinking over it alot recently, I really did like it, hopefully I'll catch it in the cinema another time soon.

I better hurry up and read it then get my ass to the cinema

By the way Unikron, doesn't look like they went for that bit with the cute snow outfits on snow scooters.

Having finally got round to reading it and just finished the book, I'm interested in seeing it.

Obviously, you could pick over any adaptation and make complaints (like the fact they didn't have Tom Bomadil in LOTR) but if they get anywhere close it'll be worth seeing, even if not totally pleasing.

Judging by the trailers on the Watchmen site, they're pretty close with the characters visually (like Toozey said The Comedian and Rorschach seem very close) but I've read a bit about the characters being changed (and the ending - :@).

I was hoping the "Tales Of The Black Freighter" would make it into the film, but apparently not, though it might be on the DVD

It'll definately be on DVD along with a DVD of "Under the Hood" which will expand more on the book than the comic did.

I'm hoping they include the scenes with the NewsVendor and the kid reading the comic.

I think they filmed that aswell, Snyder filmed the whole book pretty much, can't wait for the blu ray release.
