OK....I finally managed to get hold of a Schecter C-7 Hellraiser 7 string.

26.5" scale length, mahogany body, thru-neck, rosewood fingerboard, Grover tuners and active EMG 707's as stock. Sexy! You can pick these things up for around £500 here, though a mate bought this over from New Zealand for me. For the price they're pretty amazing value and play and sound great. Don't come with trems as stock but Schecter can fit them for an additional charge. If you're considering getting a quality 7 string for a reasonable price definately check out the Schecter range:

Yeah, I think so. :D Haven't had a chance to gig or record with it yet as I only just got it, but it sounds great after a few minor adjustments.

Btw Sam, I checked out that new Yyrkoon track......awesome. Those guys really are amazing. I'm looking forward to hearing the rest of the new album when it comes out :D

The build quality's very good....nice and solid. Good tuners, hardware and p-ups. It's very similar to this ESP which cost me a lot more (plus all the faff of getting 707's from the US and installing them).

It's tuned to B flat at the moment with 9-58's and I tried tuning to A too and the strings are still fine - enough tension - because of the longer scale length (an inch longer than a Universe). The action is all down to personal preference but that's relatively easy to adjust to suit anyway :D

honestly, if it wasn't for the wide neck profile, i'd be playing one of them there right now. i agree that the specs you get (mahogany body, neck through, real pickups) for the price is wicked. guess i should blame my parents for not having hendricks hands.

having small hands shouldn't be a problem unless they're really really small. making stretches on the guitar is more about strength and dexterity than anything else. I can make stretches now far far greater than ones I could a few years ago. and my hands haven't grown that much.

I perfer 'fatter' necks to skinny ones. I find it hard playing a 6 string these days.

Whats the price like for tremlo fittings on that guitar?
