gay as a coot.

nah it was a great story. the "martial arts" were pretty damn cool, but as with most of these japanese movies it's the stories that make them so good to watch.

Unfortunately I missed it but I've been wanting to see this film for a while. I wouldn't mind getting into more martial art films.

Hey this has sparked off a great discussion ... Martial Arts films ....

What is the great Martial arts film that has ever been made???

"Don't watch the finger, otherwise you'll miss all the heavenly glory"
Bruce Lee

Enter the Dragon is a brillient film...

Except it was a Chinese story. It was written between 1938 - 1942 by a fellow named "Wang Du Lu".

The film is based on the fourth book of a five part series. I wonder how they did the martial arts sequences in the book?

yeah tis a cool film! I like how thers not a set mian plot but kinda lots of sub-plots which intertwine and manifest at the end of the film with them all being resolved in the space of about 15 mins.

btw toozey I'll see if i can borrow it off my dad so you can see it.

The greatest martial arts film ever made? Yeh, it obviously has to be a Bruce Lee film but I've not made up my mind which one yet - but it's not Enter the Dragon, even though it is a great film. It would have been Game of Death if he had finished it...my vote goes to Way of the Dragon, the uncut version obviously with the double nunchaku scene - the only film he directed.

P.S. You got the quote wrong, it's "Don't concentrate on the finger or you will miss all the heavenly glory"

8)

Crouchin tiger, hidden dragon, hmm. An alright film, not the best. but is quite funny with the flying dudes and funky sword action. reminds me of kung fuo from bravo. But it still has some good kung fu action.

It was one of the first films I have seen where the Martial Arts are not integral to making the film any good.

Unlike...BLOODSPORT!!!!!!! I love that film but the acting is almost as bad as "The Quest"!

Saw it the first night! :D

The drum sequence at the start was sweet, and I loved the rest too. Not particularly brilliant in the same way as Hero or Crouching, but still good.

It may seem really lazy to compare this three films with one another, but really, they are extremely similar. I think HOFD is a bit more old school in it's style, unlike the other two, which I think were doing something new.

I saw this movie the other day, Chow Yun-Fat and Zhang Zihi are brilliant in this film.

Crouching Tiger is a good film!

:D
