...is absolutley demoralizing. The more lectures I go to, the more depressed I get. 20 million people have died from aids and 40 million people currently have it. It spreads due to the opression of women, the rufusal of Pharmacutical companies to lower their prices, the catholic church spreading absolute LIES about the effectiveness of contraception on preventing the disease and such widespread poverty that prositution is the only way out.

Over a sixth of the people living on this planet live below the poverty line, unable to provide for their families while the rich get richer; use of non-renewable resources is going to esculate further, meaning more pollution in Asia, more deforestation in Africa which combined, will increase Climatic change massively, which is on a 50 year delay anyway so even if we do something now (which we don't appear to be), we're still going to mess the planet up further.

Wars are waged for resources, whether your the US government or African tribes, we kill each other.

Trans-national corporations have more power and influence than countries do, with only profit at heart (at the expense of a better life for human beings).

Humanity is indeed cancer.

The only thing that cheers me up is my physical geography lectures. Here, I learn about the physical processes that occur so slowly, that man doesn't see them. These processes are unrelentless, and no matter how much man fucks the planet up, they restore equilibrium eventually. As long as some sort of life survives, it can start again.

I feel like this in Philosophy class sometimes.

Either I can sit and contemplate my life away and then die, or try to be happy or help others (or both) and then die.

But it's like some sort of drug! the more books I read, lessons/lectures I have on the subject, the more I want to read/learn.

A desire to read and learn is a good thing, depressing or otherwise.

Are you at Uni or college?

I've been thinking I wanna be a teacher! either of Music or a primary teacher (who knows I may even want to become an RE teach!)

I live in a village called Trimdon Village, and there are nieghbouring villages called Trimdon Colliery and Trimdon Grange, so me and some friends collectively call them Trimdonia! its small and in the middle of nowhere in county durham!

and the right honourable Tony Blair (MP) is actually from Trimdon Colliery!

(my claim to fame is that my 'rents know him and when George W came we were all invited to go to a special meal in a nearby small town called Sedgefield which El Presidente attended and I shook his hand :o , lame I know!)

I hate corporation$.
Aslong as they get their money now who cares what happens after their life-time hmm?
Its mostly, sad to say, America. These people have looked for a use of money from everything, whether its selling stuff for you to burn and inhale, making money through exploiting religion or even the naked body - the amount of money made in one day in America, on pornography is enough to pay off all of Africas debts. If the people in charge could just organise something just for ONE DAY out of all the other that these porn companys are making billions, they could obliterate the poverty of some 30+ countries but instead we have MacDonalds sueing them for $3 trillion because demands were failed to be met, the people there didnt want MacDonalds.
Money. Its all they want - Money.

From playground bullies to international terrorism, you can always blame the cause of something wrong, on money.

Half the cost of the Iraq war could provide water for the 2 billion people in the world who have no access to a clean water source.

Could you just imagine if what you said happened??? Just one day where all moneys made go to the third world or international charities and schemes?

That would truly be awesome and would rekindle my faith in humanity, as well as silencing the anti-capitalist arguement forever!

Wow!

Matty...a teacher??? The world needs enthusiastic teachers...even RE ones! I don't think I could teach...I have to much fun with Primary school kids that I'd end up letting them walk all over me, and you know that when they turn 13, they'll do it anyway.

I hope it works out.

Cheers man!

I think teaching could be really fun and rewarding and I don't really care about what the money's like or anything, the feeling of when your explaining something to somebody and then it suddenly clicks and they understand it is just amazing! and that would happen almost daily in teaching!

I get a similar feeling from History, which is what I'll be starting my degree in next year. I love it to bits, it's a wonderful subject, but in places it's almost pathetically depressing. Looking back and seeing mistakes being made, then exactly the same mistake being repeated again and again, continuing right up to the present day. The same lies being propagated, the same fucking bullshit over and over without end. It's hard to stave off the abject misanthropy sometimes.

Humanity itself isn't the problem - it's ignorance, greed and apathy.
