The visuals were fairly pretty, but Kurosawa has everyone beat in the beautiful shots department. Simply take a look at Ran, which he storyboarded in full with canvas paintings! Absolutely breath-taking film altogether, every shot is utterly staggering, and he achieved it all without CGI.

Well I finally bought it on your recommendation. The landscapes are awesome, particularly in the opening credits. Although it's "false" though, Hero is better looking. But to be fair, there's 15 years between them.

It seemed like the battel scenes were a big influence on Creative Assembly's "Shogun: Total War".

Ran was good, but like Shakespeare, it went on to long for me. I almost fell asleep by the end. I like Kurosawa's style though. I think I'm going to have to check out some more of his stuff.

Anybody seen Ong Bak?
Great fight sequences and stunts, no CGI, no wirework.
Great action film with Muay Thai as the focus.

The film is pretty B-movie action. It's all about Tony Jaa. He's stunningly stunningly stunning.

I love the fight with the Australian guy...Muay Thai is shit, I'll kick your arse...

*Flying knee to the face*

Hoo-ray go the crowd.

The very first fight he gets thrown into.
bloke approaches him
Tony Jaa does an almighty knee to the face
it's all over!
I must have watched that scene a dozen times when I first bought the film. Awesome!
