I continue on my quest of nostalgia - reliving my childhood :D

I just ordered the Vol. 1 DVD of this - this was such an awesome cartoon, a true classic. Anyone else know it/like it?

I've also just bought 6 DVD's of The Mysterious Cities Of Gold - another old 80s cartoon by the creators of Ulysses 31
:D

I've got the entire series of ULYSSES 31 on video cd, its fucking great!!!
Me and Rayner both really like it. We both watched it when it was on the first time, then i caught it in early mornings in the early 90's. Probably my favourite cartoon ever.

It's got such a weird atmosphere and strangeness to it, really really cool.

If you read the liner notes on 'Worlds...' you'll notice i mentioned ulysses 31, i was watching it a lot when i was doing the guitar parts to 'worlds...'

ps the mysterious cities of gold rules too, but i havent seen it for ages.

Yeh I know what u mean about the atmosphere/strangeness of it - I haven't seen either of these for ages, probably when i was at secondary school.

The only other anime that comes close to matching these is probably Cyber City Oedo 808 on Manga, this is cool too.

Ok if I remember correctly you've got these super-criminals in a prison in orbit and they're given the opportunity to reduce their sentences if they do certain tasks like catch murderers etc. You've got Sengoku, who has the coolest car ever (dashboard like a christmas tree) , a dude called Benten - he looks androgynous and has the coolest weapon of all time; his mono-filament whip which is basically this thread thats one molecule thick that cuts through anything. Then you got Gogul - a computer hacker/genius built like Schwarzenegger who swears way too much. They didn't make that many of them, about 3 i think 45mins each - the last one they made was really cool - I can't do the stories justice in my own description but they are definitely worth watching. I think u can get all 3 on one DVD now.

Here's a link to a website i found - still pics dont do it justice though:-

Did the mysterious cities of gold have a golden Condor in? Cause if it did, that is uber-nostalgic. I was barely able to understand it, I was so young but I still remember watching it.

Ok I thought of another cool cartoon - Battle of The Planets; otherwise known as Gatchaman (Japan) or later known as G-Force. It had a spaceship in it that turned into fire called the Phoenix or something like that anyway.
TV is shit now compared to the 80s. I mean where's your equivalent to Airwolf, A-Team, Knightrider, The Fall Guy, Streethawk, Automan, Chips, etc. then there was He-man etc.....I feel sorry for kids nowadays
