It'll definately be on DVD along with a DVD of "Under the Hood" which will expand more on the book than the comic did.

I'm hoping they include the scenes with the NewsVendor and the kid reading the comic.

Bernard and Bernie are amongst my fave characters in the story.

In November, 2009, an "Ultimate Collector's Edition" was released. The five-disc set includes the director's cut of the film with Tales of the Black Freighter woven in, new commentaries by Zack Snyder and Dave Gibbons, the complete Watchmen Motion Comics, and over 3 hours of bonus content including Under the Hood, which was previously released on the Tales of the Black Freighter DVD.

It does not include the maximum movie mode that is exclusive to the directors cut blu ray version.

I have the directors cut. I really liked it, It seemed to follow the frames from the book really well. I thought it was a good motion visualization of what had been happening. There were differences of course but it didn't bother me as much as many people. Keep in mind, I like the book but I don't worship it.

I saw the general dvd release yesterday and wasn't actually very impressed. The look was pretty close and most of the acting was reasonable (if a little lightweight) but the film felt like it had just been edited down way too much.

They changed things senselessly too, like when Rorshach kills the child murderer; in the book he gives him a saw and sets fire to the place (i.e cut your arm off and you might escape) but in the film he just hacks him to death.. there were a lot of things they could have kept faithful to the book without affecting it imo. Plus the alternate ending while not story breaking is a tad weak.

Is it worth watching a longer version with less cuts?
