Beyond the Eyes of Man (Live) I hope to one day hear this song played live and in person. Edit: the vocals in the quiet part of the song are fucking sick. Bone-chillingly creepy. The rest of the song is great, too. In fact, the vocals sound more dynamic and overall better than the album version. Aside from that, in general I'm stepping away from metal for the most part. I've taken a liking to sountracks for games and science-fiction movies like "Pandorum." Also, the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack, which has some sick jazz tunes on it. |

Been listening to a list as long as your arm. The most recent and relevant being Mastodon. I've bought THE HUNTER last week, just so i can hear my imbecile brother call them "Masturbate" and boast how much Slash is better, JUST so i can tell him that Slash is a poor-man's Buckethead. But I was actually "disappointed" with want of a better word. It's a good album for sure, just not as catchy as their other stuff to date. |

Bah. I hate it when new albums turn out to be not as good as previous ones. Because I'm sure most musicians want/expect their new releases to be more appealing to their fans, and when it's not, I'm bothered by comparing the new release to the older ones. Just a thing of mine, I suppose. Listening to some Orbeth and some Velvet Acid Christ... and of course, The Contortionist, who have grown to become my current favorite artist. Really talented group of guys there, in my opinion... |

I'm partial to Depeche Mode. Probably because I haven't dug deep enough into their history, but all I know is that the songs I've heard so far are a hard-hit-and-miss for me. I love Thrown Upon the Waves as well. It's got this kind of dark, futuristic epic poem kind of feel. But the kind of "dark" that one might feel attached to... It's difficult to explain, but just to give you an example: for me, the song reminds me of the scenery, atmosphere, nostalgia, design, and scale of the game "Super Smash Brothers: Melee". If you take a look at the game's menu and stage design, how foreign yet comforting it all feels, like a vast void lit with hallucinogenic lights? Well, whatever, I'm rambling now. I'm listening to the Dragon Ball Z soundtrack mostly, along with the Homestuck Soundtrack, Sunshine soundtrack, The Contortionist, Mithras, and Orbeth. Mostly eerie, instrumental, calm and atmospheric songs. |
