I remember buying Reign In blood on vinyl for the first time years ago (it was about £2 hehe) and listening to it for the first time - I was like holy shit!! I couldn't believe the speed and intensity. I basically wore out the vinyl coz I played it so much. Nowadays it's sort of taken for granted that it's one of the greatest albums of all time but back then it was something else and nothing really compared to it. So, I'd have to say Slayer converted me into a speed-obsessed metalhead. IMO even to this day no other album matches it's intensity/purity. PS. I hope now Lombardo is back that they record an album less than 30 mins long with 10-12 tracks - Slayer have always been about speed to me. |
