Lately I've started to listen to Power Metal and I'll admit for a long time I had the "Power Metal is for faggots" attitude but when you listen to some of the bands you realise its just so cheesy its good!

So far I've checked out Ensiferum, Rhapsody, Dragonforce, Elvenking and Celesty.

Anyone I need to hear urgently? :D

There's a lot to choose from Toozey and a good deal of it is crap so listen carefully:

Iron Saviour
Twilightning
Symphony X
Grave Digger
Blind Guardian
Luca Turilli (or Rhapsody if you're into cheese)
Kamelot

Start with those.

Digg'in up an old'n here

The band that truly live upto the name power metal are metalium for me, theyr actually powerful! The first 3 albums the 2nd being the best.

p.s I notised a no towards the priest!
Well 'ram it down' & of course 'painkiller' are very strong albums, expecially if your into power metal.

I dont care what anyone says power metal is not gay... I mean look at manowar! How could anyone think theyr gay???!!! Big hair n muscles... That ain't gay!

A lot of it I just can't stand. But every once in awhile i'll feel in the mood for some Power metal. i'll listen to Hammerfall, Kamelot, Twilighting, Symphony X, or Edguy.

Is there anything in power metal with a particularly dark tinge to it? That was always my gripe, sure it's some very impressive musicianship, but it always feels way too fucking happy.
