Hey Leon, im going to be getting a drum kit soon, and a double bass pedal. I was just wondering, since you kind of just sat down at a kit and were already amazingly fast at blasting, were your feet also as fast? What kinds of things did you do to get your double bassing in shape?

Hi there,

yeah when i first started drumming properly (as in for more than 1 minute at a time) i realised i could play really fast with my hands.
It took about 6 months of playing before i could actually play 'proper' blastbeats and do 'proper'double bass. My feet were a lot slower than my hands, and were until we did the 'Worlds...' album where my feet actually met up with my hand speed (my hands had slowed down a bit due to us not playing super fast material since the recording 'Legions...').

When i started doing double bass it took about a year before i could play something like 'Rapture' properly. To get better at double bass, you simply have to play double bass as much as possible. I drummed constantly on the floor whenever i sat down, and practiced as much as possible on my kit, my practice kit. I also spent a lot of time experimenting with my pedal settings.
