Yeah as lee says the one handed roll and gravity blast are the same thing, but i don't do either so you'd be best off looking them up on google, theres even videos which explain how to do it these days. A hyperblast is basically a super fast blastbeat (normally over 270 bpm), but it's got a lot of variations which aren't quite as noticeable due to the high speed. People argue about the definition of different beats, but i think of them like this: B-BASS DRUM S- SNARE H -HIHAT/RIDE normal 'offbeat' blastbeat (a'la Morbid Angel): B B B B B B B B B B B B B .S S S S S S S S S S S S S H H H H H H H H H H H H H onbeat blastbeat (a'la Suffocation) B B B B B B B B B B B B B S S S S S S S S S S S S S H H H H H H H H H H H H H The thing with the hyperblast is it's generally supposed to be the same as the onbeat blast, but due to the high tempo the drummer often splits the bass drumming between 2 feet (to make a 2 footed blast) and concentrates mostly on playing the snare (with the strongest hand whichever it is). It's not uncommon to have the other (weaker) hand playing half time on a china cymbal or open hihat to mask the fact that only half as many notes are being played. Often the drummer can only hit the tempo with their faster hand, so thats why you see drummers sometimes changing the snare hand for hyperblasts. On our first two albums i only ever hit the snare drum with my left hand, for some reason my left hand is faster. |
