i have a hole in the front of the bass drums skins yeah.

the main reason is because it sounds better and i can adjust the dampening easily without having to mess around taking the head off. (and i can mike it if i want to 8) )

even tho the bass drum is usually triggered, the feel of the drum is still really important and having a hole in the front really changes this.

i've engineered a lot of bands and bands without a hole in their bass drum but with an internal mic usually dont sound as good, often sounding very resonant.
