I know outright speed isn't the most important thing but after reading the Derek Roddy drum thread it's got me intrigued...

Does 'Worlds Beyond The Veil' contain the fastest double bass ever recorded? (to the best of your knowledge)

If not, what does?? (coz whatever it is it must be fuggin' fast!!)

good question

as far as i know, its one of the fastest, as i've never heard anything faster and do go out of my way to find fast double bass.

The closest thing i've heard is Pete Sandoval on 'Opening of the gates' on Gateways, which is 1120hpm

The part talked about on 'Worlds beyond the veil' is 1200hpm exactly, it's the section at 1.57-2.07 ish. I originally had it at about 1240hpm, but it was just fucking impossible to play most of the time.

Other fast bits: -

At the start of Worlds is about 1050hpm
Lords and masters chorus riff has about 1072hpm

deuterium i cant tell as its so messy (guitars not in time with drums) and badly recorded, but i know its very very fast.

dementor is about 1100 and i think Kuntaut cult is about the same.
