i use a variety of floor fx before my amp (flangers phasers etc) then i've got rack effects processors after my preamp. i dont have a main sound, nearly every solo has its own sound/pickup setting/floor fx setting/fx patches, but all of them have pretty much the same guitar sound, i change it by turning the volume of the guitar up or down. on a typical sound, say the end solo from 'wrath of god' on worlds, i've got chorus,delay then reverb all in moderation. the settings for all these change wildly depending on the solo part. i use the neck pickup for this too. i usually use a certain chorus to thicken the sound up a bit on my solo sounds and then use delay settings based on the tempo of the song, then whatever kind of reverb i want (cavernous, roomlike, small, resonant etc) for our sound, id recommend not too much gain, quite a lot of middle, not too much fizzy top end. |
